This bundle includes the following handouts:

  • Baby - Healthy vs Warning Signs: We all know that a good way to avoid complications with a new baby is to help parents recognize the signs of when to bring them back in for care. This handout compares what normal (and sometimes weird) newborn behavior looks like, with warning signs that might mean a problem is developing.

  • Circumcision: Circumcision can be a very sticky subject, but this handout sticks to the facts ma'am. We focus on the anatomy and purpose of the foreskin, the procedure, and a benefits/risks analysis to help families decide.

  • Feeding Your Baby: This breast/chestfeeding handout covers how to stack the deck in your favor for a successful nursing experience, nursing positions, determining milk intake, and when to look for help.

  • Door Sign: Moderating visitors can be a challenge with a new baby. Sometimes visitors have different expectations on the visit instead of what parents actually need. This door sign can help remind visitors how to be helpful and not disrupt the new family.

  • The Fourth Trimester: Many parents are so caught up with pregnancy and having their baby that they don't know about or consider the Fourth Trimester. Adapted from Katie Amodei ("Parent Map," 2010) this handout outlines what this precious time can look like, how to cope, and how to care for both baby AND yourself.

  • Immediate Postpartum: This worksheet covers "The Magical Hour," things to have on hand postpartum, and newborn breast crawl.

  • Newborn Care: Our Newborn Care worksheet covers Dr. Harvey Karp's "5 S's" of baby soothing, swaddling baby, and places to write down extra instructions for their baby.

  • Newborn Decisions: Our Newborn Decisions worksheet covers Vitamin K, Eye Ointment, and Hep B vaccine, as well as newborn screenings and tests and partner tips. As always, we include the BRAIN acronym to help families make decisions.

  • NICU: We all know sometimes birth and postpartum doesn't go as planned. Navigating the NICU can be hard for parents. This handout organizes the things parents might experience in terms of the six senses to help them navigate their individual NICU experience as best as possible.

  • Postpartum - Healthy vs Warning Signs: This handout covers a family's "Postpartum Plan," including what's normal, what's not, and where to go for help if they run into trouble.
